Gala Event

FRIDAY EVENING - October 1st:It's a Party and a Dance and an Auction and a Celebration of Quilts! Join us for our first annual 'Quilts on Parade' Gala Party and Dance on Friday, Oct. 1st sponsored by our friends at Med City Mobility. If you like dancing, good food & drink, bidding on auction items, supporting the Senior Center and appreciate quilts, then you'll want to be with us on Friday night from 6-11:30 pm for the Opening Gala. But you don't even have to like quilts to have a good time at this party! Over 200 amazing quilts will be displayed throughout the building along what we are calling our "Wall of Fame". Beautiful quilts from the very large to the very small. Quilt designers all over the US and our very own local designers have created these masterpieces for your visual enjoyment and purchase. As you explore our Castle, you will see these remarkable quilts, learn about the various types, who made them, and the stories and inspirations behind them. Along the way you'll enjoy delightful hors' de oeuvres by Johnny Mangouras, a glass of wine or beer, and conversation with other party goers. At 8 pm the 37th St. Gold Dance Band starts playing. If you haven't heard them before you are in for a treat. They are a full dance band that plays the big band tunes to get you on the dance floor. The theme of this year's event is 'On Broadway' and to keep with that theme, the band will be playing a number of Broadway musicals and other tunes for your dancing pleasure. A live auction will take place around 8:30 pm. A number of non-quilt related items as well as some of the top quality quilts will be auctioned off. The silent auction will be going throughout the night with items of interest to the quilt maker and many other items for those who aren't. At approximately 10:30 pm we'll announce the People's Choice Best of Show Quilt. Tickets are $50/person and can be purchased in advance
at the Senior Center, Med City Mobility and from Senior Center Board
Members. The doors open at 6 pm, attire is business casual. Come and
help support the Senior Center Mission: "To enrich the lives
of older adults". Make your reservations soon |
